Reframing Research Assessment with MyResearchFolio

22 July 2025

At the ISSI 2025 conference in Yerevan (July 2025), OpenAIRE representatives presented MyResearchFolio, a new pilot service supporting the shift towards responsible research assessment practices.

As Europe advances its research reform agenda —driven by the CoARA Agreement, the CoARA Working Group on Open Infrastructures for Responsible Research Assessment (OI4RRA), and the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information— MyResearchFolio offers a concrete tool to operationalise change.

The pilot service builds on the work carried out in two Horizon Europe projects: GraspOS and OPUS. GraspOS provided groundwork on tools and services aimed at enabling practical responsible research assessment. OPUS explored the design of evaluation frameworks and their adoption by institutions and funders. Together, these projects together provided a solid, tested base for MyResearchFolio to address practical needs and policy aims, helping institutions put principles into action.

MyResearchFolio introduces a researcher-centric profile service that combines qualitative narrative CVs with quantitative indicators, the goal being to support researchers, institutions, and funders in experimenting with combined assessment practices and identifying what works best across domains, disciplines, and stages of career.

Key features

  • Overlay on ORCID and national identifiers: seamless integration with ORCID IDs.
  • Customisable narrative templates: flexible narrative CV formats, allowing researchers to present their contributions in rich and meaningful ways.
  • Embedded Open Science indicators: OpenAIRE Graph indicators on Open Science practices are directly integrated into researcher profiles, including FAIR and open outputs, the use of open repositories and infrastructures, links to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and data sharing and reproducibility.
  • Connected to the OpenAIRE Graph: a researchers’ profile automatically benefits from a vast, interlinked dataset, covering research outputs, funding, affiliations, citations, infrastructure usage, and more.

Next steps

The MyResearchFolio pilot will run over the next year, offering researchers, institutions, and funders a space to co-develop and validate new assessment practices. OpenAIRE is inviting researchers, institutions, funders, and evaluators to help co-develop the platform, test fairer, context-rich evaluation models, and align policy and practice with Open Science principles.
