PFAStwin

 About

PFAStwin is a Horizon Europe Coordination and support action project whose primary objective is to enhance the capacity of the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Chemistry, for advanced PFAS analysis and bioremediation.

This will be accomplished by fostering collaboration with partner institutions, thereby strengthening Serbia's ability to address PFAS pollution and create innovative solutions for urgent environmental challenges. Additionally, all scientific results will be made publicly accessible in a transparent manner.

Mutual Benefits

This collaboration supports the advancement of Green Open Access via the Cherry institutional repository of the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Chemistry, positioning it as a vital resource for inclusion in future research assessment initiatives.

PFAStwin provides valuable advice on fostering effective collaboration. GraspOS, especially OSAF, stands to gain insights from peers on collaborative strategies with partner institutions, which can inform our ‘Rulebook on Open Science’.

PFAStwin can leverage GraspOS' expertise to explore challenges and opportunities related to integrating Green Open Access into research assessment practices.

Through this collaboration, the projects aim to:

  • Facilitate knowledge exchange on Green Open Access practices, participate in Open Science training, and enhance collaboration on research excellence, dissemination, ethical scholarship, and leadership.
  • Embed these principles within RRA practices in GraspOS, culminating in public recommendations for revising the institutional ‘Rulebook on Open Science’.

Joint activities

The consortia of both projects plan to organise a joint lecture, and to include result from the event in a set of recommendations to inform revisions of the institutional ‘Rulebook on Open Science'.

Joint activities which have taken place will be listed below.

Events

  • Joint lecture: From research to visibility - the power of open science. 4 September 2025, 12:00 CEST, Ana Bošković.

Joint lecture with the Horizon Europe projects GraspOS and PFAStwin, targeting researchers who want to make their results more visible, more cited, and more recognisable in the scientific community.

The lecture presented responsible research assessment practices, focusing on the PFAS challenge in Serbia, and discussed technical aspects related to the reward system within the GraspOS infrastructure. It also highlighted the importance of publishing results in Open Access and showed how this increases the accessibility, citation, and recognition of works. Furthermore, the session addressed accompanying institutional changes, including the new system of rewarding authors and chairs, as well as updates to the Open Science Regulations.
