CRAFT-OA is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action project which aims to consolidate the Diamond Open Access (OA) publishing landscape by improving the technological bases of its platforms, software and infrastructure to make Diamond OA activities and results more discoverable and appreciated.
CRAFT-OA, along with DIAMAS, deals with aspects of Diamond Publishing. While DIAMAS is more about the quality aspect of publishing, CRAFT-OA brings relevant input from the infrastructure perspective.
Further exploring the data quality perspective, this collaboration will aim to combine the work carried out in GraspOS and CRAFT-OA, exploring how CRAFT-OA is approaching the creation of its registry, the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH). The DDH will be a comprehensive registry of institutionally published and scholar-led Open Access Journals in Europe. In light of this it is important to understand how it can connect and work with existing resources in GraspOS datasources, for example to be added in Knowledge Graphs.
Mutual benefits
CRAFT-OA is working on a key output category of Open Access journals, and given the GraspOS open science perspective, it is important to engage with their work to explore this key output category.
The GraspOS infrastructure aims to be a key platform for research assessment, therefore engaging with CRAFT-OA could raise the profile of OA journals.
This collaboration is expected to yield the following outcomes:
- Understand in what ways the two infrastructures are similar or different.
- Understand what are the connection points to ensure data and metadata interoperability for future collaborations.
