University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is a pioneer of open science and science communication. In this pilot, UEF will be using new indicators and metrics to monitor open science and enable responsible research assessment.

• Test and evaluate less commonly used indicators and metrics for publishing activities.
• Monitor UEF’s publishing activities and compare them to other Finnish universities.  
• Explore the possibilities to use new indicators and metrics in knowledge management, impact assessment, responsible research assessment and in monitoring open science, and identify the needs of UEF management in that regard.
• Promote and enable open science by exploring and assessing ways to use new indicators and metrics for publishing activities, for example by recognising and rewarding open science.
